As creatives ourselves, we set out to build the exact space we always wanted to have, but could never seem to find. The result is Backstage Studios: a creative playground where artists of all types, and at every stage in their careers, can collaborate, create, innovate—and absolutely nail it.

The ultimate in adaptability, Backstage can accommodate any kind of project you can imagine—from high-end commercial photography, film, and video shoots, to the most intimate gallery installation, or boldest creative experimentation.

Actor’s Drop-In

Need a little creative juice? Drop by our Actor’s Lounge, available (most) Mondays–Wednesday. Book a 45-minute session and get access details upon confirmation. First time? Fill in our quick application to get on our A-List.

We understand that sometimes that—sometimes, life (or other things) happens, and you need to cancel.
We respect that. All we ask in return is that you respect us, too, by giving us enough notice of your change in plans so we can try to fill your spot. Sound fair?

For all of our packages, events and custom bookings, our rescheduling, refund and cancellation policies are:

● 14+ DAYS NOTICE BEFORE YOUR BOOKING: full refund minus a $150 Administration Fee. If your booking is less than $150, there will unfortunately be no refund.

● 7-13 DAYS BEFORE YOUR BOOKING: studio credit for your full booking cost minus a $150 Administration Fee. If your booking is less than $150, there will be no refund or any studio credit.

● 2-7 DAYS BEFORE YOUR BOOKING: studio credit for 50% of your booking cost minus a $150 Administration Fee. If your booking is less than $150, there will be no refund or any studio credit.

● 48 HOURS OR LESS BEFORE YOUR BOOKING: no refund or credit, as the space has been reserved for you. For security reasons, bookings aren’t transferable, and only the person who makes the booking will have access to the studio.

● NO SHOWS: are subject to the full booking fees charged to credit card on the day of booking.

● We’re dedicated to making sure everyone, regardless of their identity or accessibility requirements, is celebrated in our space. If you have any accessibility concerns or need any accommodations, contact us and we’ll do our best to make sure you feel welcome and comfortable.

●As part of our booking process, we’ll ask you to fill in our screening form (or schedule a video call to outline the scope, detail, and expectations of your project. Please use this opportunity to let us know about anything you need to make sure your project is a success, from music and wardrobe requests to listing allergies and sensitivities, or even asking if you can bring along a friend on the day of your shoot!

● When booking a package , please make sure the number of crew you’ll have on-site is accurate. Our pricing is based on things like wear and tear, power use and post-shoot cleanup, so changes to crew size must have prior approval, or you’ll be charged a $150 fine plus additional fees for each extra person.

●If you’ll be shooting any production video, filming or photography, please use our production rates when booking to cover the cost of making sure the cyclorama is freshly painted and prepared. Meetings and other non-production reservations may not use the cyc area. Violations to either of these rules will result in a $500 fine to cover the cost of cleaning and re-painting.

● Lights aren’t included in any bookings, but rentals are available upon request.

●Please respect the space and avoid triggering any fire alarms. If a fire alarm is triggered, you’ll be charged $100/hour for staff response costs plus any fines that are levied by the fire department.

●If you’ll be using a fog machine, please contact us well ahead of your booking so we can provide guidance on how to avoid triggering the smoke alarms. Any use of a fog machine will ultimately be your responsibility.

●Last but not least, like they say with national parks—when using the studio, our policy is always “pack in, pack out.” Please take out your own garbage with you. If any garbage is left behind, the cost of a haul-away service will be deducted from your deposit.
